What does Title Insurance Do?

Title Insurance provides indemnity to the insured for defects in title to the property. Most defects are discovered in subsequent real estate transactions, which can delay those transactions.

If you have title insurance for the covered matter, you can submit a claim and the title insurer proceeds with the legal process to resolve the matter and/or to reimburse you for your costs/losses up to the policy amount.

If you receive notice of a title claim, you simply submit a claim to the insurer according to the terms on the policy.
